Chico's Story

The true story of a child survivor of the Holocaust by Marguerite Lederman Mishkin. When Marguerite tried to write about her confusing and chaotic life as a child in Nazi-occupied Belgium, she was unable to use her own voice. So, she chose the voice of her comfort dog, Chico, who was with her throughout the times she spoke to school and community groups as an adult. She shares her story here in hopes that young people will learn to stand up against bigotry and intolerance.
